Codeine Addiction

In 1946, Howard Hughes Jr.suffered severely from a plane crash. He had burns in many parts of his body ,damages to his lungs and other internal organs and cuts all over his face. His physicians, Dr.Lawrence Chaffin and Dr.Verne Mason didnt think he would survive. But slowly and miraculously he did. Due to the pain he suffered, Dr.Mason first gave Hughes morphine and then replaced it with codeine.Codeine's analgesic qualities  greatly eased Howard's pain and he asked for more of the drug even when he no longer needed it. Later on, near the end of his life, Dr.Chaffin would blame Dr.Mason for starting Hughes on the road to addiction. His long-time addiction to this drug was what killed him in 1976.  To learn more about the properties of Codeine ,symptoms of addiction , effects of addiction and cure for addiction, please click on the links below:  - The effects of Codeine Addiction.
